The performance-based product
Product information
A course with the Build to Sell authors.
- Are you constantly debating which features to prioritize, only to see your product fall flat with users?
- Are you frustrated that all your time and energy go into negotiating a product roadmap that doesn’t deliver the adoption you envisioned?
Chances are, you’re spreading your efforts too thin, chasing too many features and hoping for a silver bullet.
Instead, you need to focus on key product performances—those characteristics that build long-term client loyalty, and shift discussions from “what feature is next?” to “how do we improve this performance?”
This course helps you do just that. Imagine building a product that perfectly meets your clients' needs and also delivers a "wow" effect that makes it truly stand out. You’ll learn to bridge the gap between Product and Tech, sparking innovation and reigniting the creative energy of Day 1.
-
Skills you will acquire
- - Identify key client preferences: Uncover the non-negotiables that drive customer purchases and repeat business.
- - Define product success criteria: Translate customer preferences into clear performance targets that guide design and development, ensuring your product delivers the "wow" factor.
- - Prioritize product improvements: Learn to assess where your product meets or falls short of expectations, and compare with competitors to decide where to improve next.

In week 1, you'll unearth your clients' stable preferences that drive their purchasing decisions. You'll assess how well your product or service aligns with client key preferences using a client radar chart, highlighting where you're meeting expectations and where you might be falling short. By comparing your product against competitors, you'll gain clarity on what to improve in your product and which direction to take next, ensuring your efforts are aligned with delivering real customer value, not just more features.
-
In week 2, you’ll define how your product should behave to meet your clients' stable preferences. You’ll set clear performance targets that will guide design and development, ensuring every decision stays aligned with what your users value most. Finally, you’ll aim for a "wow effect"—a surprise that delights customers once all their preferences are met, elevating your product from good to unforgettable.
